Great Movies

Two great films on TV this week-end that made my big TV worth every penny. And both featuring my favourite countryside campaigner Edward Fox.

I defy anyone bloke of a cetain age to watch theĀ  Battle of Britian without a lump in their throat.

The second film was the original Day of the Jackel. Apart from being a great film, it is excellent for spotting classic French cars.

The book I have on the go at the moment is also called “The Battle of Britain’ (by Richard Hough and Dennis Richards). I can’t find an ISBN. It’s a write up from 1991(ish) and is very dry in places still very interesting.

The most interesting bit for me covers the 1931 to 1939 period covering the preparation for war. Especially how it was possible to develop and implement technology so quickly during a depression.
